Richard George Scott
Richard became a Freemason in St. Bede Lodge in his home town of Jarrow in January 2002 after reading an article about Freemasonry in a national magazine.

From School he started work in the Engineering industry, serving his apprentiship at NEI Clark Chapman, Gateshead, becoming Foreman, before moving to Nissan Motor Manufacturing in 1988 as a Production Supervisor and after a succession of promotions, to his current role of Senior Project Supervisor for Nissan’s premium brand, Infiniti. He graduated from Sunderland University in 1999 with a BA (Hons) degree in Business Studies. He went on to write a book on Business Systems & Practices Within Organisations and has published several business articles as reference material for Universities, including the London School of Economics. 

He was Exalted into St. Bede Royal Arch Chapter in November 2002 and progressed through the Offices in Craft & Chapter until becoming WM of St. Bede Lodge in 2007 and 1st Principal of St. Bede RA Chapter in 2010. Along the way he joined several of the Other Masonic Orders including Finchale Preceptory of Knights Templar in 2004. He became a member of the Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard in 2006 and became EP of Finchale Preceptory in 2008. He first received Provincial rank in the Knights Templar in 2010 as P.Prov.Alm. Around this time he also joined Palatine Guards Preceptory and the Durham Preceptory of Installed Preceptors, and has progressed through the Chair in both of those Preceptories. He became Registrar of Finchale Preceptory in 2010, a position he held until 2015. Between 2003 and 2011, he took an active role in several Provincial activities being Assistant Secretary of the Friends of Scarbrough Court (RMBI care home), Secretary of Freemasonry in the Community Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial Website Working Party and member of the Provincial IT Committee. Between 2003 and 2011, he was part of a small team who built the Provincial websites and set up the IT systems for all Masonic Orders in Durham.
He still lives in Jarrow with wife Victoria and has four grown-up children - three daughters and a son - with his son, Richard, a professional football player for New York Red Bulls, now residing in New Jersey, USA. He also has young Grand Children and enjoys being in their company. At weekends, he enjoys riding his motorcycle and is a member of the Masonic Widows Sons Motorcycle Group.
